The much-awaited celebrity bout scheduled for the 2023 FMF Boxing Series this Saturday has been postponed to a later date.
This was confirmed by Alan Kumar, promoter for Tuwai Boxing promotions, during a press conference yesterday in Suva.
“Unfortunately, due to a number of circumstances.
“We apologise to all the fans and supporters who were expecting to watch the celebrity bout,” he said.
There will be a total of 14 boxing bouts next Saturday, with seven amateur bouts and seven professional bouts.
“The gates at the FMF Gymnasium, where the event is being held, will open at 3 pm, with the amateur bout starting at 4 pm and the professional bouts at 6 pm.
“We are encouraging all boxing fans from around Fiji to come and watch your boxers display good boxing in the ring.
“Fans can expect explosive performances from all the bouts as each opponent has been carefully placed with each other for a fair competition.”
Kumar also urged fans to purchase their tickets in advance, as they are expecting a sell-out this weekend.
“All tickets can be bought at SportsWorld outlets in Suva, Nakasi, Nausori, and Damodar branches.
“We encourage you to buy your tickets in advance because we are expecting a sell-out to the event.” He also confirmed that there would be no replacement bout for the celebrity bout.
“It takes a long process in setting up a celebrity bout, so there will be no replacement for the event.”
