With only two games left for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua this season, the focus revolves around winning each game with a bonus point and hoping other results go their way as well.
Drua skipper Meli Derenalagi knows how vocal the fans can be and hopes his teammates will draw inspiration from it as they take on Moana Pasifika at Churchill Park, Lautoka this Saturday and the Reds next week at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
“The boys know that playing in a home game is another atmosphere,” said the Drua number eight.
“The Moana Pasifika players know we won’t allow any team to win here at home.
“It’s similar to what the Waratahs did here today (Saturday) on how they tried to own their turf and not let any team come and win over here (Sydney).
“I know the boys will be focusing on winning at home against Moana Pasifika in Lautoka.
“As coach Byrne said, ‘our target is to be in the top eight and we will try to work towards that’.”
Head coach Mick Byrne said they had to play smart in those two matches. He said the players needed know when to slow the game down and when to speed it up.
“Teams are smart now so we’ve got to be better than them,” said Byrne.
“We’ve got to be aware that we should be able to do the same thing.
“To speed the game up when momentums is in our favor, so it’s good learning’s for our team on how to control the game rather than just playing on.”
The Drua takes on Moana Pasifika at 2.05pm.
