The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will be out seeking redemption for their loss against the Western Force when they face the Waratahs this weekend in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific in Australia.

Head coach Mick Byrne said they would need to play a more physical game compared with how they did last weekend in the 34-14 loss.

“The Waratahs have very physical players right across with a lot of finishing qualities out wide as well,” he said.

The Drua last met the Waratahs in March, where they lost 46-17.

“We know that we will have to play a very physical game, and we can assure you that we will be ready for the Waratahs come Saturday. The Drua fell from number eight in the Super Rugby standings after going down to the Western Force 34-14 and are placed at number nine.

“We were in the eight, and now were not, so the points this week are vital.”

Byrne said their loss against the Force last weekend was water under the bridge, adding that a new goal had been laid out for the team.

“We are moving forward from that, we can’t afford to keep looking back now.

“Now we get to focus on our next challenge, that’s the competition we’re in, we don’t have time to look back at our sorrowful or glory days.”

Byrne said he knew the threat the Waratahs posed, but added that his players were ready to stand up and match their opponents.

“It’s all about learning, and from our last match, we have seen what they are capable of and now the boys are ready to stand up against them and match the energy.

“But then it’ll be on me on what we can do differently to get us up.”

The Waratahs take on the Drua at 9.35pm on Saturday.
