Christian Mission Fellowship College will look to punch above its weight as they take part for the first time in this year’s Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Deans Trophy competition.

The school conducted a jersey unveiling and presentation of the under-14 team yesterday and chief guest, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro said it was a massive achievement for the school.

“It’s good to see that CMF has joined the many schools that are branching out from the usual academic program into sports as part of its extra-curricular activities,” said the honourable Radrodro.

“Last weekend we witnessed a tough, rather exciting Coca-Cola Games competition and it was a great competition where we witnessed friendly rivalry. Now as we transition into the Secondary Schools rugby season, we have schools participating for the first time in this competition and will definitely spice up the games.

“I know we are all looking forward to cheering our young people on as they take on other teams on a weekly basis.

“Fiji is well-known in the rugby arena and I have no doubt that some of these youngsters will go on to wear the national jumper or even go a step further and represent overseas clubs and countries.”

School principal, Maikali Benaca thanked Manav Ram of Roman Uniform and Design Ltd for coming on board and sponsoring the U14 jerseys for this year.

“I would like to thank Manav Ram for coming on board and supporting us with these lovely jerseys,” said Benaca.

“We really appreciate the support and I know the boys are excited for the new season ahead of us.”
