Tailevu/ Naitasiri defeated Navua 3-2 in round six of the Digicel Fiji Premier League at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

Tailevu Naitasiri led 2-0 in the first half through Mosese Nabose and Jone Naraba’s goals in the first half.

Coach Tagi Vonolagi said the boys played well considering the two soft goals the boys considered, they struggled to get their defensive game in line.

“A few new boys played today and one of them is part of the under-19 team, who scored our third goal,” he said.

“We need to work on transitioning play from attack to defence.

“There are still a lot of things the boys need to learn to be able to compete with top teams.

“We have two more games to secure a position to qualify in the Fiji FACT competition.

“At the moment we are in the eighth position and we will have to work hard if we want to move up.”

Tagi has been with the team for three weeks and said it was a challenge to get the team ready on time.

The side will play against Nadroga next week.

Meanwhile, Navua coach Saiyad Ali said they needed to work more on their finishing up if they wanted to win against Labasa next week.

Ali said they had so many opportunities but did not capitalise on them.

“No matter how well we play and we want the win, we will need to look back at our game plan,” he said.

He adds he needs his players to be more confident. He gave credit to three of his under-17 players for putting on a good performance.
