Mydesk Fiji and the Australian Government’s Market Development Facility (MDF) are partnering to promote coworking spaces and business development services for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the western region of Viti Levu.

Mydesk is a subsidiary of Eventuros (Fiji) Pte Ltd, launched in December 2021.

It offers hot-desking, coworking packages and event space hire located in Essence Building, Nasau Backroad, Nadi. MDF acting country director Kelera Cavuilati said, “Coworking spaces are an innovative solution to addressing the challenges faced by MSMEs in Fiji, offering flexibility, lower costs and a sense of community that will enhance productivity and creativity.

“MDF is happy to support Mydesk’s growth plans and encourage up-take of affordable business development services for MSMEs in Nadi.”

With more than 18 years’ experience in marketing, information technology and management, Mydesk founder Dipti Sharma said the challenges she faced as a small business owner in Nadi and her experience using coworking spaces abroad inspired her to invest in the business venture.

“I had to work out of home or cafés, and it was always a struggle to find affordable workspaces to fit my business needs. Many of my friends and clients shared the same sentiments, so I knew that coworking spaces would work for business owners like myself,” Ms Sharma shared.

“We’ve been operating for over a year and I’m very excited to work with MDF to refine our business model so we’re in a better position to offer sustainable and affordable packages for MSMEs,” she added.

The coworking hub is looking to expand its service offerings to include business development services such as coaching and mentoring to encourage innovative collaboration and create a strong support system for MSMEs in the West.
