International travellers to the country will no longer be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and travel insurance.
In a statement, Government highlighted that this move came following careful consideration of the global and national COVID-19 situation by the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce (CRMT) and applied to both arrivals by air and sea.
Previously, all travellers 16 years and above were required to produce proof of full vaccination and travel insurance covering COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services earlier reported that Fiji’s hospitalisation was low because of community-wide immunisation and in-country surveillance capacity.
The focus remains on implementing COVID safe measures around to protect the vulnerable from severe effects of COVID-19.
Border authorities, however, will continue to review health measures and continue community surveillance for early warning of future threats.
Last year, tourist arrivals to Fiji reached 71.1 per cent of 2019 levels (636,312) with a strong forecast projected for the first quarter of 2023.
