The All Freight Logistics Suva football club has finally won the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series after beating Marine Services Rewa 2-1 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay yesterday.

It was a tough match for both teams as they fought hard to win. Suva had been winless in this competition but when they finally did, it was an icing on the cake for coach Babs Khan. The win was a good start to the season for the Suva side.

Dave Radrigai and Remueru Tekiate got the goals fo the home side in the first half. Abbu Zahid scored for the Delta Tigers in the second half. Suva goal keeper Akuila Mateisuva was sensational as he blocked a few free kicks from the Rewa side.

With changes to both side, they failed to score any more goals. Khan said it was their defence that won them the game.

“We played well in the first half, but when we came back in the second half we were kind of scrappy. There’s a lot of work to be done,” he said.

“Some of the things we talked about in camp didn’t happen on the field.

“I guess this was the first game for the season, we were over confident and we gave a lot of ball away, that’s why we were under pressure but thanks to our defence that resulted in our win.”

He dedicated the win to all the wives and families of the players and management for their never-ending support.

With CVC win, Khan has won the Digicel Premier League, Fiji FACT and IDC for Suva and now has his eyes set on the BOG.
