We will let everybody apply for those roles, says Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) CEO Mark Dixon.

He said this when approached for comment on Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad’s comments regarding the possible rehiring of some of the 89 FRCS workers who were terminated in 2021.

Mr Dixon said he took Prof Prasad’s words to mean FRCS should look at every opportunity to recruit skilled and experienced people where they were needed.

“So we should not exclude those people that have left the organisation previously,” he said.

“We should look at them as part of the mix.”

Mr Dixon said his job as CEO was to look at resources and staffing within FRCS and where they needed to grow based on how the economy was expanding.

“We are doing business slightly differently, so there are parts of our structure which might shrink and other parts which might grow.

“My job is to make sure that where we need growth, we are able to go to market and recruit the very best talent, and I don’t mind where that comes from.

“We’ve got to be fair and equitable, and that should include people who previously worked for us who want to come back and work for us again.”
