The Fiji Times Ltd chairman Kirit Patel has reaffirmed this newspaper’s commitment to responsible and good journalism in 2023.
In his New Year’s message, Mr Patel said the newspaper celebrated its 153rd anniversary this year, and its records over the years were critical and reflective publications that allowed Fijians to be informed.
“The slogan ‘Your Voice’ since 1869 is a daily reminder for all of us about the place The Fiji Times has in our lives, and the development of our nation going back since September 4, 1869, and driving a message of hope for the future,” he said.
“Once again, as a media company in 2023, The Fiji Times renews its commitment to place value on good journalism.
“The Fiji Times understands its responsibility to support it in good times and bad, so that it can stay that way. We value the role of the media, and we embrace its significance in our history.
“The Fiji Times as a news organisation has watched our nation develop over more than a century.”
He said while the world could never be completely free from disasters, conflict and pain, the onset of a New Year drew attention to all that was hopeful and good in this changing world.
