Nasilai villager Veniana Maraia of Rewa says she will not be voting this year due to mobility issues.

The 71-year-old said she was not able to walk to the nearby villages of Lomanikoro, Rewa and Nadoi and elections officials did not visit either.

“I cannot walk that far, everybody in this village knows,” Ms Maraia said.

“The officials should have done house-to-house visits because of those with mobility conditions but they didn’t.

“I am really disappointed that I will not be able to vote this year.”

Ms Maraia is one of four women who suffer from mobility issues in the village and were not able to make it to the nearby polling venues.
