‘Mr Nitro’ Finding His Feet

FLYER Alasio Naduva will fight for his spot in the starting team for the HSBC World Rugby Dubai 7s tournament next weekend.

The 32-year-old said he was happy to get back into the Fiji 7s squad.

“For the last two years I was in Sinai for peacekeeping duties but now that I’m back in the fold with the Fiji 7s team,” Naduva said.

“I’m bonding well with the old boys and things are going well with the system. “I also have caught up with the old boys like Waisea Nacuqu, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Josua Vakurinabili.

“So that will motivate me to do better because I was away from the team for some time. “Now that I’m back I will fight for my spot in the starting line-up.

“There is good competition within the squad. I want to thank coach Ben Gollings for having faith in me and bringing me back into the team.”

Naduva made his debut during the 2017 HSBC World Rugby 7s Series and is rated as one of the fastest players in the competition, earning the name ‘Mr Nitro’.
