Fiji is ranked second in the world when it comes to having the most patients with breast cancer, said Fiji Cancer Society board member Margaret Rounds.
She made the comments while speaking at the Style Fiji fashion event in Nadi on Saturday night where a little more than $40,000 was raised for the Fiji Cancer Society.
“That’s alarming for a small country like ours,” said Ms Rounds.
“We provide non-clinical services to our loved ones. “It’s important that we visit our patients, our loved ones at home.
“We assure that our patients at home are well cared for and there are many of them who cannot afford basic things. ”
Whenever they cannot get medications from the hospital, we provide that. “There are a lot of cancer patients out there, just lying around.”
