Iowane Teba was the standout player for the Fiji7 s team in the Hong Kong Sevens over the weekend.
This is according to national sevens head coach Ben Gollings.
“He is somebody who has not played a lot and went on to have a fantastic tournament,” Gollings said as the team returned home from the Hong Kong 7s yesterday.
“He was fantastic. Scoring tries and his defence was also good.”
The former England 7s skipper said the services of Teba was dearly missed in the final due to a shoulder injury he sustained during the semi-final clash against Samoa.
“Hopefully, he will be fit and healthy again to be playing because he added something extra which was good.”
Gollings said the team had been consistent and they had started well in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
“We started well and we can grow, learn more and get better.
“We have that consistency and we proved that in every tournament. The Hong Kong Sevens came with its extra pressure as we wanted to make it six times in-a-row. I think we handled that well plus it sets a good platform for the rest of the season.”
