When Mark Dixon joined Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, his role was to “steady the ship” of an organisation that had not been an employer of choice for many years, the Public Accounts Committee heard.

“I am determined to put that right this year in 2022.”

Mr Dixon said this while making submissions before the Public Accounts Committee on their 2018 audited accounts report in Parliament on Monday.

Among his team were FRCS director taxation, Momina Beg, chief finance officer, Ansu Singh and chief of staff, Shavindra Nath.

“My role coming in January was really to steady the ship and focus on key issues that will feature in our strategic plan and the first of those issues is our people,” Mr Dixon said.

He said becoming an employer of choice would enable them to retain skills the organisation needed and also benchmark FRCS against the private sector and seen as efficient in their work.

“The only way to achieve that is through investing and valuing our people, so we done a lot this year.

“We need to get that culture right. Our people will be committed in changing FRCS from its old days of FRCA.”

He said they would roll out their new strategic plan in next year.
