It’s a “spectacular September” for Tourism Fiji after the organisation recorded 72,657 visitor arrivals which is 89 per cent of visitor arrival levels compared with the same period in 2019.
Tourism Fiji has released its September 2022 statistics on visitor arrivals and the tourism industry seems fit to make a reasonably quick recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organisation chairperson Andre Viljoen said: “After the devastating effects of COVID-19 and associated shocks, it was a special moment as Fiji reopened our borders to the world from December 1, 2021.”
“Looking forward, we now have momentum and optimism, opening markets once again and re-establishing Fiji into the minds of global tourists and the optimism appears to have been rewarded as the numbers hold up to expectations.”
According to their 2022-2024 corporate plan, the organisation intends to support an expansion of the visitor economy to an estimated $3.37 billion and attract one million international visitors by the end of 2024.
September also brought a record number of Australian visitors to our shores making over 50 per cent of the total arrivals.
