The Ba football team will head into this weekend’s Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament with a positive mindset and coach Imdad Ali believes his players will give it their all in the three-day competition.
The Punjas BOG will be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka over two weekends, with the pool games kicking off on Friday and ending on Sunday.
The semi-finals and final will be held next weekend.
Ba is in pool A with Navua, Labasa and Rewa.
“We have been preparing for long and there is nothing special in our preparations of the BOG,” said Ali.
“We had been doing well in the Digicel Premier League and hope to carry that same form into the tournament over the weekend.
“We will just go out there and give it our all. That was my message to the players over the weeks; we will go out there and put on a performance that we could be proud of.
“We are weary of all the teams as all teams are equal in terms of competitiveness.”
The Men in Black will have the services of Vanuatu international player Claude Aru and Ali said the 25-year-old had loved it in camp, gelling well with the players.
“We are glad to have Claude’s services for the tournament and he is looking forward to it. He has had a few runs with the team and he is trying to find his rhythm among these players.”
He urged Ba supporters to come out in numbers at Churchill Park in Lautoka and cheer them on as they battle for the BOG title.
“I humbly urge all our loving supporters to come and cheer us on in Lautoka. The players will need your support and we will try and put on a good performance that will put a smile on the faces of people from Ba.”
Ba starts its campaign against Navua on the opening day of the Punjas BOG 2020 at 4pm.
They face Labasa on Saturday at 5pm, and will play their final match against Rewa on Sunday at 3pm.
