Birmingham 2022: Swimmers finish in heats

Team Fiji swimmers failed to go past the heats during competition yesterday.

David Young, Epeli Rabua and Taichi Vakasama competed in the men’s 50m breaststroke.

Young finished first in his heat in a time of 30.76 seconds. He was ranked 32nd of the 40 swimmers who took part.

Rabua swam a time of 29.6 seconds to finish 28th while Vakasama ‘did not start’.

Sisters Rosemarie and Cheyenne Rova swam in the same heat of the women’s 100m freestyle.

Rosemarie finished fifth in a time of 1 minute .78 seconds while Cheyenne finished eighth in 1 minute 01.81 seconds.

Rosemarie was placed 36th of the 55 swimmers who participated while Cheyenne was 44th Fifteen-year-old Kelera Mudunasoko swam in the women’s 100m breaststroke where she finished eighth in 1 minute 16.23 seconds. She was placed 22nd of the 28 participants.

Temafa Yalimaiwai rounded up the day in the men’s 100m butterfly. He finished in a time of 57.90 seconds to finish 37th overall.
