The Ba football side is not promising fans anything ahead of its semi-final clash against Labasa at the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT today.
Ba coach Imdad Ali said it had only been two months for him with the team and he needed more time to build a winning combination.
“Our chances are really slim. Don’t want to promise anything yet. Personally, I feel I need better players in some positions,” Ali said.
“We didn’t really have enough time to prepare so I can say after the next transfer window, we will be able to build a good side.”
Ali added the team had a smooth week of preparations and apart from a few niggling injuries, all players were available for today’s semi-final.
“We had some recovery sessions this week as some players had a few niggling injuries. We should have everyone available on game day.”
He said Labasa were the favourites to win the tournament and would be a tough nut to crack.
“A very tough opponent.
“They have been very consistent in this tournament. They have very fast forwards and equally good players at their backline.”
Ba has won the tournament a record eight times, last winning it in 2010.
The side beat Navua 1-nil in the final that year. Ba plays Labasa in the first semi-final at 2.30pm at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
