Monika Devi’s shout for help late on Saturday evening saved her husband and herself.

Ms Devi and her husband Rohit Lal who are market vendors at the Laqere Municipal Market in Nasinu were mugged outside the market by four men.

Mr Lal, while talking about the horrible events that took place, said if it wasn’t for her wife’s shout for help they would have been seriously injured as they were parked away from the market.

Mr Lal said the attackers were dressed in black hoodies and masks.

He said they were still trying to recover from the traumatising events that unfolded last Saturday afternoon.

The 45-year-old man said although their belongings were stolen together with their car they were thankful to have made it out alive.

He said this inhuman act by the four people should never be tolerated.

Mr Lal said the items stolen were a laptop, two mobile phones, cash sales of the day and groceries inside the car.

“They took everything,” he said.

Mr Lal claimed that the lost items were worth $25,000.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the incident occurred after 6pm and police attended to the alleged case of theft of the motor vehicle and aggravated robbery. She said the incident was being investigated.
