Update: 7:02PM IN a bid to improve its services and decentralise vehicle inspections in order to achieve more efficient customer turnaround time, Fiji’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) today signed contracts with five companies as authorised motor vehicle inspection agencies (AMVIA).
LTA board chairperson Vijay Maharaj said the outsourcing of vehicle inspections would also ensure transparency and enable LTA to fulfill its maximum potential in its role as a regulatory body.
“Today, we enter into contract with five additional inspection centres, which have met the 85 per cent compliance threshold,” Mr Maharaj said.
Last year, LTA had signed contracts with six centres for the outsourcing of private and commercial vehicles under 3.5 tonnes.
The five agencies that signed the contracts today are Asco Motors (Ba), Kingsway Auto (Lautoka), Quick Stop (Sigatoka), Eskay Motors (Suva) and Wheels Pacific (Suva).
