As an entrepreneur, Riddhi Damodar always wanted to create a brand that is unique and brings joy in people’s lives.
Ms Damodar recently opened a candy and confectionery store — Lollywood — at Damodar City, Laucala Bay, Suva.
“The store features delicious varieties from various parts of the world. We currently feature treats from USA, UK, Spain, France, Turkey, Italy, China, New Zealand, Australia.
“From candies, gummies, chocolates, toy candies to lollipops — you will find them here in Lollywood. Our customers can expect more varieties in the coming weeks. Whether you have a dollar or a thousand dollars you will find a tasty and quality treat in Lollywood,” she said.
Ms Damodar said the idea to open such a store had been in the corner of her mind for some time. “What I needed was some motivation and support that my dad – Mr Dayanand Damodar gave me.
With a lot of hard work, we are able to create a dream project. Fiji’s first ever candy store.” After the initial idea Ms Damodar said they spent a few months doing their research on the kind of store they wanted to create, including the look, ambience and varieties of candy, to name a few.
The project however got delayed because of the second wave of COVID-19 but they managed to get over those challenges and finally opened Lollywood.
She said they received some great feedback from customers since the opening.
“It gives us pleasure to see people’s faces light up with smile when they enter Lollywood — children dancing with excitement. We have received a positive response to our launch and we are hoping we will keep receiving love and support in the following times.”
Ms Damodar admits that starting a business always has risks, especially during COVID times.
“Just like any other new business we do have our challenges and our team works very hard to overcome them. We are keeping a positive mindset.
“I am very thankful to my parents and family for their support. I am also very thankful to our entire team who has made this project possible.”
