Suva’s Tanoa Plaza Hotel had gone through a major uplift and was ready to open after a $10 million renovation when COVID-19 hit us last year.

Despite the challenges, the hotel had a soft opening and was operating to assist those who had either got stuck during lockdown or had to travel to oversee their business or provide essential services or provide a gateway for those seeking an escape from their busy schedule for some quiet time.

While rooms take was slow, the newly renovated ground floor restaurant and bar gained popularity when the team tried a new dining concept of platter for two with different themes every Friday.

While their seafood platter was most popular, they also had fisherman’s basket, barbecue, burritos and tacos on offer to alternate for guests to try something new every week.

The dining offers were complimented with happy hour prices on drinks and a live band to unwind every Friday after a week’s busy schedule.

“We could not wait to reintroduce our Friday theme event when the announcement was made for us to open from October 4,” said Tanoa Plaza Hotel Suva general manager Mere Rakoroi.

“The team got together, and we hit the market with our highest selling seafood platter for our first theme event on Friday, October 8. The space can also be hired for private events, and with free car parking, Tanoa Plaza Hotel Suva is the most convenient location for any corporate or family event.”

Area general manager Fiji Narend Kumar added Tanoa Hotel Group was delighted to welcome guests back and ensure nothing but the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards with all COVID-19 safety measures were in place for guest and staff safety.
