Bowling on outing mission

THE national bowling team is confident of a good outing at the Commonwealth Games which starts in Scotland later this month.

The team wrapped up its preparations yesterday and will gather in Nadi on the weekend before heading to Glasgow on Monday.

The side has a wealth of experience with former world ranked players Ratish Lal and Litia Tikoisuva leading the charge.

Men’s team captain Abdul Kalim said their morale was high.

Kalim said the side was mentally prepared.

“There are seasoned bowlers in the team,” he said.

“The likes of Ratish and Litia have represented the nation at many international events. The aim will be to acclimatise to the conditions early.”

For the men’s competition, Samuela Tui will play in the singles discipline. Arun Kumar and Tui will play in the pairs while Dan Lum On, Kalim and Lal will play in the triples discipline.

Kalim, Ratish, Lum On and Kumar will play in the fours discipline.

For the women’s competition, Elisabeth Mocewai will play in the singles discipline. Sala Gukivuli and Mocewai will play in the pairs while Doreen O’Conner, Radhika Prasad and Tikoisuva will play in the triples discipline.

Tikoisuva, Gukivuli, O’Conner and Prasad will play in the fours discipline.
