LAUTOKA based Western Hair and Beauty Salon owner Suresh Mani has temporarily relieved six of his staff because of the new COVID-safe protocols announced by the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

And the burden of monthly rental and bills payment had once again haunted the Lautoka businessman.

Mr Mani said he could not think of a better way to pay next month’s rent of $3500 now that the business had closed.

“I had to shut down my business because it is now classified under high-risk businesses and I had no option but to send my staff back home,” he said.

Mr Mani said he was certain his business would take a huge beating in the next 14 days and beyond if we don’t return to normalcy as soon as possible.

“This is my only source of income and I am really hoping that I can open as soon as possible because my employees at home might be struggling to feed their families as their livelihoods are also affected.”

Ministry of Health & Medical Services in a statement on Thursday announced high-risk businesses that has been closed throughout Viti Levu include gyms, movie theatres, video gaming shops, cyber cafes, taverns, bars, billiard shops and amusement arcades, hairdressers, barber shops, spas, beauty therapy, massage therapy avenues, saunas and tattoo parlours.
