Lydia Ko has got off to a flying start in her second round to move into the lead at the Lotte Championship at the Kapolei Golf Club in Honolulu.
After shooting 67 on the opening day of the LPGA tournament, the Kiwi opened up on the second day with four birdies over her first seven holes to move into the lead.
Starting on the back nine, the 23-year-old made easy work of the 10th and 11th par-four holes, then completed the par three 12th hole and par-four 13th hole in regulation.
Then on the par-five 14, she picked up another birdie to share the lead and two holes later she was out on her own.
That four birdie moved Ko to 9-under on the 72 par course and took her ahead ofthe overnight leaders Brittany Altomare from the USA and the Philippine’s Yuka Saso.
The former World No.1 then birdied the first two holes of her back nine to get to 12 under par and lead by two shots over the chasing pack.
Ko arrived at the Lotte Championship in hot form, having produced one of the best rounds of her career in the final day at the ANA Inspiration, the first major of the year.
Chasing Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, Ko shot 10-under on the final day.
Ko is searching for her first tournament win since April 2018.
