Tyre partnership grows strong

A PARTNERSHIP of nine years between Punjas Group and tyre manufacturing company Zhongce Rubber Group has resulted in a stronger presence of the Chinese company in the Oceania region.

And according to the manager of Punjas Tyre and Auto Centre, Krishna Naidu, they’re confident this partnership would be maintained in the years to come.

The company hosted Wang Rui and Benjamin Lou from Zhongce Rubber Group on Wednesday.

The Chinese-based company is the manufacturer of Westlake tyres supplied in Fiji by Punjas.

Punjas Group marketing manager Gopal Jadhav said with sales revenue reaching $US4.88billion ($F8.95b) in 2013, Zhongce Rubber Group was ranked the number one tyre manufacturer in China and the 10th global tyre manufacturer in the world.

“Zhongce Rubber Group has sent their experts to Fiji to conduct training for the staff of its exclusive importer — Punjas Tyre and Auto Centre — to review business and technical issues with key customers in Fiji and also have insights into road and vehicle conditions.

“Ms Rui is a second generation tyre engineer and has spent more than 25 years in the field of tyre engineering. She has extensive knowledge on the subject and has travelled across the world to offer onsite technical support.

“Mr Lou is the sales manager for the Oceania region which includes Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Under his supervision the Oceania markets have achieved a 15 per cent growth and have become key markets for the Westlake brand.”

He said one of the reasons Punjas chose to supply Westlake tyres was because they were manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility in China that has earned several awards.
