The Labasa Magistrates Court has acquitted a case involving an elderly businessman who was charged by the Labasa Town Council for illegally building a room at the SB Khan Mall.

Businessman Bashir Khan, 74, appeared before Magistrate Bimsara Jagodage and walked out a free man after his lawyer Simione Valenitabua filed for a no case to answer.

Magistrate Jagodage also acquitted the case after the Council failed to provide the defending lawyer their (Council) witness’s statement.
