Northern Air Fiji will resume flight operations to the North on Wednesday, however, these plans are subject to the weather, says CEO Rainjesh San.
He said following a risk assessment yesterday, flights to Labasa were postponed because of the threat of flooding.
As at midday yesterday, Mr San said he learnt from his team in the North that floodwaters that had inundated most parts of Labasa had fallen to two feet, adding the area was still subject to heavy rain and water levels were increasing steadily.
“I am also not taking the risk of reopening flights to Taveuni and Savusavu as yet,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Fiji Link confirmed a Suva-Labasa flight had to be diverted yesterday morning because of poor visibility and adverse landing conditions in Labasa.
The statement read the subsequent Labasa-Suva flight was cancelled as a result.
“Fiji Link will re-book all affected passengers on the next available flights scheduled from tomorrow onwards,” the statement read.
