More than 200 children were part of a program aimed at teaching essential life skills for children between the ages of 10 and 16.

The program is called the Pathfinder and is organised every year by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

SDA church pastor Pita Tokalau said the program was focused on cultural, social and religious education for children and teenagers. He said this year, the church was celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pathfinder Club and it was an important program for the church because it was a spiritual and recreational activity program.

Mr Tokalau said it was an opportune time for children and parents to be together to learn new things which could be of great value to their lives in the future.

He said the church was also responsible for teaching and empowering children to know about their culture and heritage.

Mr Tokalau said children were taught how to present a sevusevu, how to do a first aid bandaging and other physical fitness activities.

The program was held at the Davuilevu Housing ground yesterday.
