VANUATU gospel group Monument Singers are in the country to raise funds for a local church with a concert in Suva this week.
The group arrived on Sunday and will perform tomorrow at the Suva Civic Centre.
Group manager and director Sowany Joseph Matou said they had performed concerts in New Caledonia, Vanuatu and in Fiji.
Mr Matou said they were here to help the Vugalei Seventh-day Adventist Church raise funds for a new church that was nearing completion.
“The mission of the group is to help church members raise funds to construct their church and all the proceeds will be given to the church that’s invited us,” Mr Matou said.
“Last year we did the same and this is our second trip to Fiji. After we help the Vugalei church we can probably help another church.”
Mr Matou said there were six singers in the group although they had brought in a few musicians to help out in the concert.
The group will sing Spanish gospel, English, Fijian and Vanuatu Bislama.
