Supermarket chain Newworld Pte Ltd has signed a Voluntary Compliance Framework (VCF) with the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC).
This agreement is part of an ongoing initiative to help businesses to better comply with the FCCC Act 2010.
This VCF signing includes branches in Newworld IGA Nakasi and Lautoka.
FCCC chief executive officer Joel Abraham said as an innovative retailer, Newworld understood the need for providing a consumer-friendly environment and the VCF was an integral part of that.
“FCCC has always had a good working relationship with Newworld Pte Limited and I would like to thank them for stepping forward to do their part in protecting consumer rights and continuing to do business in a competitive and fair manner,” Mr Abraham said.
“We encourage other organisations that want to be similarly proactive to also sign up as we consider it a vital aspect of our collaborative approach.”
The VCF outlines the compliance and enforcement tools which FCCC adopts to ensure that there is compliance in the Fijian market.
“FCCC wants consumers to be informed and protected, as per our strategic goals. The VCF plays an important part in this by ensuring participating businesses are compliant with FCCC law, regulations, price control orders, guidelines and also that a consumer redress mechanism is in place for any complaints and issues encountered.”
