FIVE months after being shutdown by the authorities, one of the country’s unique tourist attractions will reopen for business tomorrow.
Cloud 9, the floating entertainment platform caught up in a sea of controversy after being cited for breaching the Fiji Surfing Areas Decree, is being prepared for a soft launch.
Managing director Ba’rel Wachtel said negotiations with the traditional landowners and the authorities have been positive.
“After five months of inactivity, it is good to be back in business,” he said.
“We would like to inform tourism stakeholders that we are opening with a number of new attractions, including a wood-fired pizza menu and international bar.”
Previously located 850 metres from world-renowned surf spot Cloudbreak at Navula Reef, Cloud 9 has been relocated to Roro Reef, 45 minutes by boat from Port Denarau and 10 minutes from Musket Cove and Plantation Island Resort.
“Although our preferred transfer operator is stationed at Anchorage Beach Resort, we have an open door drop-in policy which means anyone who wishes to enjoy our facility is quite welcome to do so.”
Since its launch on June 3 last year, Cloud 9 has hosted world famous surfers and executives from the world’s most widely used web service provider, Google.
