A 5.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Ono-i-Lau region this afternoon.
The seismic activity that occurred at 4.29pm was recorded 381 km North NorthEast from Doi village, Ono-i-Lau, 527 km West SouthWest from Nuku’alofa, Tonga, and 609 South SouthEast from Suva, Fiji.
The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department stated that the earthquake occurred with a deep depth of 381 km North NorthEast from Doi village, Ono-i-Lau and does not pose any immediate tsunami threat to the region.
