Tropical Cyclone Gretel is now tracking towards Wellington, New Zealand, with heavy rain warnings for the North Island.
The category 2 cyclone is in New Zealand’s care of responsibility under warnings of damaging and destructive winds.
The cyclone does not pose any direct threat to Fiji.
However, the Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood warning for low-lying areas from Tavua to Rakiraki.
It notes that a trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the northern parts of Fiji with associated cloud and showers affecting the group.
