ASSISTANT Minister for Youth and Sports Alipate Nagata has commended the work of Australian rugby club Bond Pirate’s commitment towards the development of young ruggers in the country.
Addressing the team at the Uprising Resort during their short visit last week, Assistant Minister Nagata said the regular visit to our shores is indeed a noble feat and thanked Bond Pirates Rugby on behalf of the Fijian Government for the great initiative.
“Your visit over the last years is in many ways contributing to the development of our young ruggers and it goes a long way to show the commitment of the Bond Pirates rugby fraternity for the game and its growth,” he said.
For the third consecutive year the Gold Coast based club have been instrumental in the equipping of young rugby players along the Queens Highway from Deuba to Galoa in Serua and engages in rugby matches with their local counterparts from schools in the area.
The Bond Pirates junior team played three matches during the week against Deuba District School, Lomary Secondary and Primary School and Rampur College.
The team also distributed rugby gears to the schools as part of their commitment to the schools and the development of rugby.
All matches were hosted by Uprising Beach Resort new synthetic turf facility in Pacific Harbour.
