FIJI Bulikula captain Josephine Bavatu Maejiirs is confident of the future of the national rugby league women’s side after the official launching of the Bulikula Logo last night at Tanoa Hotel in Suva.
Maejiirs said this marked the dawn of a new area for women in rugby league.
“This night is a memorable one for the girls because it is something we can remember and treasure for the rest of our lives, being part of the launching of this new national women’s team as well as the logo,” said Maejiirs.
“Being part of something amazing is encouraging in itself and for me having daughters of my own, they know I play for the country and for something that gives us meaning.
“We are grateful for this country and for FNRL for doing something for the women in the sport. It is not small, this is history in the making for everyone here,” she added.
The Bulikula extended squad are in the country to fight for a final spot for the PMs 13 tournament next month.
