THE Fiji Police Force will conduct foot patrols in hotspots in the Capital City following a recent attack by a group of thugs who robbed two men along Victoria Pde.

The incident went viral on social media platform Facebook after it was caught on CCTV camera.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu issued a stern warning yesterday to criminal elements that the police will come after them.

“Be law abiding citizens. If you break the law, we will come in,” he said.

Mr Tudravu said people needed to walk freely while on the streets in public places and not feel threatened.

He said police would be foot patrolling hotspot areas in Suva.

“What we are trying to emphasise now is the back to basics on the things that we are supposed to be doing.”

Mr Tudravu said the incident that happened along Victoria Pde in Suva was a wake-up call for police.

“This is our country. We shouldn’t be doing things illegally in our country that portrays different images out there to members of the general public and also to the people who are visiting us.

“What we are trying to do is to push in a lot of manpower to go back to have the visibility on the ground and uniform police officers seen on the ground.

“The only thing is that we need to map our way forward,” he added.
