ST John’s Association of Fiji today received a shuttle with wheelchair capability to help with its patient transfers.
The new shuttle was handed over St John’s this afternoon by the General Manager Tourism Transport Fiji, John Hardaker.
Chief executive Ema Bovoro said this new shuttle would help them transfer patients who were wheelchair-bound.
“Some had to shuttle their loved ones in taxis and then put their wheelchairs at the back, however, this new shuttle allows the wheelchair to roll in, its stabalised and also locked down in there to take them to the clinic,” Ms Bovoro said.
“This shuttle will be used to as a patient transfer for non-urgent with specific medical needs.”
Mr Hardaker said this was for a great cause to assist in aid to the community.
“The value of being able to do it is immeasurable to what people will benefit from and as it is a dual purpose vehicle for shuttling and wheelchair,” he said.
Ms Bovoro said the new shuttle would cater for the Central Division for the time being before they open a new branch in Nadi before the end of this year.
