THE participation of the iTaukei Land Trust Board in the 4million Trees in 4years Initiative is part of its contribution to landowners as a land management agency, says CEO Tevita Kuruvakadua.

He said the initiative was part of the Government’s renewed effort to continue the fight against climate challenges to protect Fiji’s environment and rich biodiversity.

A team from the TLTB had participated in planting native trees in the Colo-I-Suva area yesterday.

“As a land management agency, replanting programs such as this also ensures the loss of land through bad land management or extreme weather is mitigated thus improving the health and livability of these regions and communities,”Mr Kuruvakadua said.

“It will help conserve the environment and support local environmental outcomes by improving the extent, connectivity and condition of native vegetation that supports native species.”
