IT’s not just about finishing number one in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series but being the number one seed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in July next year.
Former Olympics gold medal winning coach Ben Ryan said being the number one seed going into the Olympics was critical.
“First seed is an advantage but psychologically coming in as number one seed to the Olympics is a big advantage. Both men’s and women’s winners in Rio were in the position,” Ryan said.
Fiji is currently third in the series.
