POLICE are appealing for information that could lead to the identification of a suspect who robbed a woman in her 60s on Wednesday in Nadi.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the woman was robbed outside the ANZ Bank Namaka branch.

“She was robbed while on her way to the bank with her company’s takings of more than $15,000 in cash and cheques,” she said.

“The suspect was chased by a security officer with two other men but he fled in a grey hybrid car, they were unable to make out the registration. Please call Crime Stoppers on 919 or the Western Division Command Centre on 9905457 if you can help us identify the suspect or if you may have seen anything on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:45pm.”

Meanwhile, a team of investigators is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 41-year-old inmate at the Naboro Minimum Corrections Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

Ms Naisoro said the victim was found by a Fiji Corrections Service officer in a cell.

She said a post-mortem examination has been conducted, however, the case was yet to be classified as further investigations were being conducted.
