THE Office of the Director of Public Prosecution in Fiji has revealed that of the 378 counts of sexual offences recorded last year, the youngest rape victim was a two-year-old girl and the youngest perpetrator an 11-year-old boy.
The ODPP statistics released today noted that the female toddler was allegedly raped by her 27-year-old father.
The statistics noted that a total of 141 people were charged last year with a total of 378 separate counts of serious sexual offences.
Out of the 378 counts, 277 counts were of rape, 66 counts weres of sexual assault, 14 counts were of defilement, seven of abduction with intent to rape and indecent assault, six was of attempted rape and one was of assault with intent to rape.
The ODPP stated that there were a total of 204 victims out of whom 129 were under 18-years-old.
