FCOSS addresses corruption by promoting dialogue

THE Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) is making an effort to reduce corruption by promoting dialogue among its partners.

Building a transparent and an accountable system with its processes is one of the main aims of the dialogue, it stated.

This was also done to ensure that the resources are solely used for the benefit of the communities they served.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes said Australia was committed to supporting Fiji’s local civil society organisations in promoting accountability not only for donors but also their partners.

“FCOSS has been developing a self-regulatory draft Code of Accountability since 2014 to attempt not just to build better accountable and transparent systems, but also a means to build legitimacy to advocate effectively on anti-corruption,” Mr Feakes said in a statement.

“This event is particularly exciting as FCOSS is now the first CSO in Fiji that has a validated Code of Accountability to combat corruption – an excellent outcome of the dialogue,” he added.
