THE Rugby Academy Fiji under-18 sevens team arrived safely in Auckland New Zealand on Monday where they will take part in the World Schools 7s Tournament 2018.
Comprising of secondary school students selected from within the central and western divisions the team will compete in one of New Zealand’s largest international sevens tournaments which sees teams from Australia, Japan, Samoa and Tonga, Canada and USA take part in the two day tournament.
“This trip is more about creating opportunies, building pathways to our Academy players and also building our players holistically and exposing them in the environment where we could build
better people and leaders in the future of our nation.” said RAF coach Seremaia Bai.
“It’s a good testing ground for our young players playing against other national teams, and with thank the parents and families for their never ending support.”
Fiji will feature two teams to the tournament under the Rugby Academy Fiji and the New Zealand Fijian Schools 7s under the guidance of former Flying Fijian and Japan fullback Alfred Uluinayau and Koli Sewabu.
RAF will play their first game against New Zealand on Friday.
