THE fear of losing his culture and tradition has prompted Mosese Vonovono to vote in the November 14, 2018 General Election.
The Nalebaleba villager of Navosa said he would vote for a person who would ensure that the culture and tradition of the iTaukei people was not lost.
“Au raica tiko e na dua na gauna oqo ni vaka sa sega soti ni tauri vakabibi na noda i tovo na kawa iTaukei kau lomaleqa sara kina vakalevu (I have seen for some time now that our culture and tradition have been taken for granted and I am a bit worried),” Mr Vonovono said.
“E dodonu me na dau vakabibitaki noda i tovo ni bera ni qai drodrovi ira yani noda kawa mai muri (There is a need to place more emphasis on our culture before we pass it down to our future generation). “Qo na vuna au sa kaya kina vei ratou na noqu vuvale na kena bibi na noda digidigi kevaka keitou na vinakata me maroroi na noda i tovo (This is why I keep stressing to my family that our votes are important if we want to keep our culture intact).”
Mr Vonovono says he is a proud iTaukei and he will not want to see his culture being stripped away and hopes that his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will witness the great blend in the iTaukei culture.
He adds that he will vote for a government that upholds the values of the iTaukei culture when the country goes to polls.
