THERE is a shortage of surveyors in the country.
This was confirmed by Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources Surveyors Registration board chairperson Rod Jeepsen while presenting a certificate to a new registered surveyor, Venesh Karan, in Suva today.
Mr Jeepsen said the cause for the lack of surveyors in the country might be because of due to the lack of promotion for the profession.
“We are very much short of surveyors in Fiji, probably the reason is we don’t promote the profession enough in the schools and we are trying to improve that service,” he said.
“In fact I have Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) students coming to see me next week and I am going to go through with them what the survey profession is all about and hopefully we get someone who will be interested.”
He added this was needed to be done throughout all schools in Fiji.
