Update: 5:45PM THE dry spell in the North has forced villagers of Kia Island in Macuata to collect drums of water from Labasa twice a week.
Ligau and
Daku village headman Orisi Vukicanavanua said their water tanks have all dried
out.
“We have to
travel to Labasa Town to get our supply of water and this only happens twice a
week when the village boat goes,” he said.
Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea said water would be supplied next
week to the affected villagers.
