And it is trying to find out whether they are exotic or endemic.
Friends, we need to protect our borders so that unwanted pests do not come in.
You as an importer can work with BAF and report sightings of dangerous pests.
As importers, work with your counterparts overseas so that they may be careful not to inadvertently allow pests into containers that will end up in Fiji and devastate our root crops.
Fumigations and through inspections of pallets and containers is a must.
Don’t think that one insect is negligible, there could be eggs on pallets and or containers that get delivered to premises for unstuffing.
Our flora is dear to us. We as a people have a duty of care, keep them out.
