Paul want to finish AOG stint on a high

THE blue ribbon athletics champion for Assemblies of God High School, Paul Mataitoga, aims to leave behind an athletic record for his school when he leaves high school at the end of the year.

He wants to win a gold medal at the Coca-Cola Games. This was his message during the school’s athletics inter-house at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

“It is my final year with AOG and I want to win something or put something back for the school. We didn’t take part last year, so my aim this year is to be part of the Coca-Cola Games and bringing pride to my school is the least I can do,” he said.

“I have been training since last December and I believe I can improve on my current time in order to take part in the zone and the Coca-Cola Games,” he added.

The Bua lad won the senior boys 100 metres final with a time of 11.50 seconds and he aims to improve on his current standard.

Mataitoga believes in sacrifice and hard training in order to win gold in the finals.

“I believe in hard training and sacrifice if we want to achieve something, we just don’t sit back and wait to win gold and we need to sweat for it.”

Judges House won the inter-house.
